7 Tips to Prevent Uric Acid Disease/GOUT

7 Tips to Prevent Uric Acid Disease/GOUT

Some of these tips can help prevent an increase in uric acid in the blood. These tips include changes in lifestyle and diet should be regularly and strictly adhered to, if not affected by gout or uric acid disease relapse.

1. Lose Weight in Stages
If overweight, reduce gradually, because losing weight can help lower uric acid levels. But avoid excessively strict diet, follow a healthy diet here. Losing weight drastically with excessive dieting may precipitate an attack of gout. That’s great if accompanied with regular exercise.

2. Eat Foods Low Purine (Diet Low Purine)

Purine is an organic component that causes gout. These substances are needed in the body to normal limits are met. Restrict foods high in purines -
Organ meats such as liver, kidney, heart
Selected fish and shellfish
Meat & yeast extracts brewers and bakers yeast
Meat soups & stock cubes. Foods that can cause gout such as beans, mushrooms, cooked spinach, and mustard greens, goat meat, offal and lard (fat), shellfish, duck and turkey, salmon, mackerel, sardines, crab, shrimp , anchovy and some other fish, cream and ice cream, and sweet bread. Some foods containing purine content seen in the list below. It should be remembered that the sensitivity of a person to be exposed to uric acid after eating these foods will vary.

3. More White Water Consumption

Approximately 90% of gout is caused by the inability of the kidneys remove uric acid from the body completely through urine. Water consumption is believed to improve the disposal of substances that are not useful as excessive uric acid from the body. Drink at least 6-8 glasses a day.

4. Expand Food Containing Calcium and High Antioxidant

Eating calcium-rich foods such as vegetables and fruits such as bananas, potatoes, avocados, milk and yogurt. Eating fruits rich in vitamin C, especially citrus and strawberry.

5. Avoid Alcohol and Soft Drink Consumption

Alcohol can lead to increased production of uric acid, while soft drink consumption may inhibit the absorption of calcium and calcium even throw in vain.

6. Limit your consumption of fried food

Fats and oils turn rancid at high temperatures such as in frying time. Moreover, if the used oil is oil that is used repeatedly. Rancid fats which can quickly destroy vitamin E and causes an increase in uric acid in the blood.

7. Increase Sexual Activity

These tips are more appropriate for those who have become husband and wife. Sexual activity, such as a kiss can make the body become more relaxed, so easy to boost the immune system. In addition, sexual intercourse can facilitate the production of urine so it can reduce the concentration of uric acid in the blood.

Discipline, Awareness and Healthy Habits.

Again the key here is discipline. You should also take the time to learn about the food you eat, and take note of foods that seem to trigger your gout. There is no set uric acid level that triggers gout attacks, each person has a different threshold so you should pay attention to how your body reacts. You should also form some healthy habits to reduce uric acid and prevent gout attacks.

If you are unsure about a part of your diet, consult your doctor about it. Even though there are a lot of resources online to help you, consulting with your doctor is still the best way to fine tune your diet and reduce uric acid levels.

Let's Celebrate: Happy Worlds Breastfeeding Week!

I'm a proud mom of breastfed babies. Happy mommy, providing a healthy milk to a 33 months old and 9 months old little boys. I would say that this kind of bonding moments between them are my most precious treasure in the world. The most wonderful gift from God, the 'liquid gold'.

Here's the 11 Interesting Facts about breastfeeding posted by Ask the Scientist - Health and Science Education

11 Interesting Facts You May Not Know About Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is associated with numerous health benefits to both baby and mother. There is no question about that. Since it’s world breastfeeding week, we thought it would be fun to share some interesting facts about breastfeeding.

• After giving birth, the body gets the final signal to make milk. The breasts usually make more than one newborn can handle at first. Why? The body doesn’t know whether there is one, two, three, four, or more babies to feed. The milk supply then adjusts to meet the baby’s (or babies’) needs.

• Breast milk changes during a feeding session. When the baby first starts to nurse, the milk is a watery, bluish color. Toward the end of the feeding session, the milk gets thicker and fattier to provide the calories needed to grow healthy and strong. And milk changes its nutritional profile as the baby grows (milk made for a 3-month-old is different than for a 9-month-old).

• Breastfeeding exposes the baby to many different tastes. The baby gets a taste of whatever the mom eats, although not directly. Eating a healthy diet can make introducing solid foods easier when the baby is a few months old.

• Babies can see mother up close and personal. Babies are born with poor vision, and they can only see about eight to 15 inches away. That also happens to be the distance between mom and baby's face when breastfeeding. So, when baby and mom lock eyes, it’s a true bonding moment.

• The baby knows its mother’s smell. Newborns have a strong sense of smell and know the unique scent of mom’s breast milk. That is why babies turn their head to mom when they are hungry.

• The wealthier the country, the less likely mothers are to breastfeed. Breastfeeding is one of the few health recommendations in which poorer countries are closer to World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines than rich countries.

• Breastfeeding allows faster recover from pregnancy and childbirth. The hormones released during breastfeeding help the uterus shrink back to its pre-pregnancy size.

• Feeling drowsy? Lactating releases oxytocin, which causes a relaxing sensation. So, the tired feeling it’s not always just sleep deprivation.

• Most moms are right. The right breast makes more milk than the left in 75 percent of breastfeeding moms.

• What if all children were breastfed? Over 800,000 infant lives could be saved every year and 13 percent of all deaths in children under five could be prevented if all, or nearly all, infants were breastfed. (1)

• It’s exhausting. Producing breast milk burns up 25 percent of the body’s energy. In comparison, the brain uses only 20 percent.

It is important to acknowledge that some people can't breastfeed for medical, physical, or comfort reasons. But when possible, breastfeeding is one of the best things a mom can do for the health and well-being of herself and her growing child.

Usana Visionex: What you need to know.

“Protecting your vision shouldn’t just start as you get older and begin to notice problems. Maintaining good eye health from the start is really the best approach. USANA's Visionex provides antioxidants to help support the healthy function of your eyes—no matter your age.”
– Dr. Rachel Brewer, USANA Senior Scientist

Next to our brain, our eyes are the most complicated organ in our body. As we age, our visual acuity naturally declines. Exposure to light, both natural and artificial, and harmful environmental factors can speed up this deterioration if our eyes don't get the protection it needs.

Flavonoids, vitamin C, zinc, lutein, and zeaxanthin are essential nutrients for good eye health. However, our body can't make these on its own. In addition, people nowadays don't get the optimal amounts of nutrients from their diets. So taking nutritional supplements is a big help.

Usana's Visionex is your advanced eye health partner! It contains
1. Lutein and zeaxanthin filter UV rays and high-energy wavelengths which pass through our eyes. It also fights free radicals because both are antioxidants

2. Vitamin C provides additional antioxidant protection especially for the retina and cornea

3. Zinc together with the antioxidants promote good visual acuity

4. Bilberry extract retains healthy capillaries in the eyes and helps with night vision

All these nutrients work together for long-term eye health and visual acuity. Take 1 tablet daily. Your eyes would love it!

HEALTH TIPS: WHAT IS GOUT?

Gout is a kind of arthritis. It can cause an attack of sudden burning pain, stiffness, and swelling in a joint, usually a big toe. Gout is caused by too much uric acid in the blood. The uric acid may form hard crystals in your joints. Your chances of getting gout are higher if you are overweight, drink too much alcohol, or eat too much meat and fish that are high in chemicals called purines.

Health Teachings:

• Control your weight. Being overweight increases your risk for gout.

• Follow a moderate exercise program.
• Limit alcohol, especially beer.
• Limit meat and seafood. Diets high in meat and seafood (high-purine foods) can raise uric acid levels.
• Change diet. Choose healthy foods. These foods include:
 A wide range of fruits and vegetables.
 Eggs, nuts, and seeds for protein.
 Small amounts of meat. Limit your serving size to 2 to 3 ounces a day.
• Drink plenty of water and other fluids. This can help your body get rid of uric acid.

USANA ProglucamuneTM Benefits

USANA ProglucamuneTM Benefits

• May assist in reducing the severity and duration of symptoms associated with colds and flu
• Reishi has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine as a tonic to replenish Qi

Our immune system is a coordinated system of cells, proteins, and chemical signals that are designed to fend off bacteria, viruses, and parasites. It helps to coordinate the wound healing process, cellular/tissue turnover, repair, and (re)building. For optimal immune function, it is important to support all aspects of our immunity, including- surface immunity, innate immunity, and adaptive immunity.

Surface immunity is the first line of defense against pathogens. It is comprised of the barriers that actively keep pathogens out, such as our skin, respiratory tract and gastrointestinal system. But if a pathogen is able to cross a surface barrier, then the innate immune system defenses
are stimulated.

Innate immunity includes a host of reactions, including the destruction of pathogens through a process called phagocytosis.

Adaptive immunity is called into action if the innate immune system is overwhelmed. Also known as acquired immunity, this response is highly specific to the pathogen that induces it.

That’s where USANA new Immune Optimizer Product – USANA ProglucamuneTM comes in to help immune cells to work faster and better. The unique formulation combines ancient wisdom with modern science for comprehensive support and overall effectiveness.

What’s the meaning of ProglucamuneTM? This is a blend of “Pro” being—promote, “gluca” being part of the key ingredient—beta glucan, and “mune” alluding to the immune support provided by the product. Pro-Promote, Gluca-Beta Glucan, Mune-Immune support.
